Adding content to your website's sidebar or footer

The right sidebar and footer areas of your website persist across most of the webpages on your website (figure 1). The sidebar and footer often include images, embedded videos, ads, and other information, and you can add new widgets to the sidebar or footer to create new content. 
  1. On the WordPress dashboard, in the menu on the left of the screen, hover your mouse cursor on Appearance.
  2. Click Widgets.
  3. Under Available Widgets, drag the widget you want to add onto a sidebar or widget  (figure 2).
    Note:
    You can drag widgets to change the order that they appear in the sidebar or footer.
  4. Complete the instructions on the screen to add content to the sidebar or footer.

Place a new ad on the sidebar or footer

  1. On the WordPress dashboard, in the menu on the left of the screen, hover your mouse cursor on Appearance.
  2. Click Widgets.
  3. Under Available Widgets, click and drag the SiteOrigin Image widget, and place it on the Right Sidebar area (figure 1).
  4. At the top left of the SiteOrigin Image drop-down window, click Choose Media, and do one of the following (figure 2):
    • To place an ad image that you already added to WordPress, in the Media Library tab, click an image.
    • To place a new ad image, in the Upload Files tab, click Select Files. Select the image you want to upload and click Open.
  5. Click Set Media.
  6. In the SiteOrigin image window, adjust the following settings:
    • Change the Image Alignment drop-down menu to Center.
    • In the Destination URL field, type the sponsor’s website address.
    • Select the Open in new window checkbox (figure 3).
  7. Click Save.
