About series letters

Series letters allow you to easily set up a playoff bracket that’s customized to your league’s playoff format.

There are two types of letters. A Series Letter acts as a label for a series. A Feeder Series letter corresponds to the series letter from the previous round, automatically aligning all the series in your bracket. Feeder series letters indicate which two series winners from a previous round advance to play each other.

Example: Series Letters

Your league playoffs include eight teams – four from the Atlantic Division, and four from the Northern Division. The first round is the division semi-finals, the second round is the division finals, and the third round is the championship final. Here’s how you can use series letters to set up your playoff bracket:

Series Series Letter Feeder series 1 Feeder series 2
Round 1 – Atlantic Div. Semifinal (1 vs. 4) A N/A N/A
Round 1 – Atlantic Div. Semifinal (2 vs. 3) B N/A N/A
Round 1 – North Div. Semifinal (1 vs. 4) C N/A N/A
Round 1 – North Div. Semifinal (2 vs. 3) D N/A N/A
Round 2 – Atlantic Div. Final E A B
Round 2 – North Div. Final F C D
Championship Final G E F

First round series don’t require feeder series letters. The two winners of the Atlantic Division Semifinals (series A and series B) will play each other in the Atlantic Division Final (series E) – so the feeder series for series E are A and B. The same principle applies for the North Division (where series C and D are the feeder series for series F), and to the championship final (where series E and series F are the feeder series for series G).
